Round 2 team announcement
Defender Jo Weston will make her return from a calf injury while midcourter Hannah Mundy will miss the Melbourne Vixens’ Round 2 match against the Adelaide Thunderbirds on Saturday night.
The Vixens welcome Weston back into the team that defeated the Melbourne Mavericks in last Sunday’s season opener, with squad member Ruby Barkmeyer joining the game day team again as Mundy continues her recovery from a quad injury.
“We have great depth and versatility in our squad, and while we never want to have team members out with injury, it’s pleasing to be able to bring in an athlete of Ruby’s experience and talent when the opportunity arises,” said General Manager High Performance & Pathways, Megan Simpson.
“We’re thrilled to have Jo available this week, she brings so much to our team both in defensive pressure and on transition down court, so we’re looking forward to her having her back out there.”
“We were proud of our performance last week and to think we have athletes of the calibre of Jo and Hannah to add to that mix is exciting for our fans. Hannah is progressing well and is in great hands with our medical team as she works towards a return to court.”
