Robinson to miss remainder of Vixens season

Robinson left the court during the final quarter of the Vixens Round 6 loss to the West Coast Fever after her right knee buckled.

An MRI confirmed the 27-year-old will require a full knee reconstruction, missing the Vixens premiership defence and Australian Diamonds selection ahead of the Netball World Cup SYDNEY 2015 in August.

Robinson has maintained high spirits in the wake of the season ending injury, a testament to her strength of character and thoughts of putting the team first.

“It is disappointing and I have no doubt that I will yo-yo with emotion but I'm strong at the moment and I know that having the support of my husband, family, teammates and all of our fans out there will help me stay focused in my recovery,” Robinson said.

“I'm blown away by all of messages I have received in the last few days and I want people to know that I appreciate their kind words.”

“I'm still super positive with a smile on my face like always and it's great to know that there so many people out there that are supporting me during this time and it will definitely be something I draw on in the future.”

“As sad as it is for me, that's life in sport and now I know what I need to do to get back stronger next season.”

Robinson will undergo surgery in Melbourne and will complete her rehab at the Victorian Institute of Sport with the full support of Netball Victoria, Vixens medical staff and her teammates.

Beginning her ANZ Championship career with the Vixens in 2008, Robinson made a bold move to Perth in 2009 to play with the West Coast Fever for two years.

The Geelong native returned to Melbourne and the Vixens in 2011, and has been a starting seven player for the Victorian side. Robinson sits with 95 ANZ Championship games and 44 international Test caps to her name.

A replacement player for the Vixens will be named ahead of their Round 7 Grand Final rematch against the Queensland Firebirds at Hisense Arena this Sunday afternoon.
