Amelia Walmsley joins the Melbourne Vixens

The Melbourne Vixens are delighted to announce the signing of Amelia Walmsley, one of New Zealand netball’s most exciting rising talents, ahead of the upcoming season.

At just 22 years old, Walmsley has already built an impressive international profile. She made her Silver Ferns debut in late 2023 and has since earned 18 caps for New Zealand.

She was also a member of the Silver Ferns team that won gold at the 2026 Commonwealth Games.

Walmsley also captained New Zealand at the 2025 Netball World Youth Cup, further underlining her leadership credentials and capability on the international stage.

Standing at 1.92 metres, Walmsley adds height, reach and composure to the Vixens’ attacking end. The goal shooter and goal attack has emerged as one of New Zealand netball’s brightest young prospects, combining international experience with proven leadership at youth level.

Walmsley made her ANZ Premiership debut for the Central Pulse in 2022, quickly establishing herself as a player to watch in New Zealand’s elite domestic competition.

Walmsley said she was excited to take the next step in her career with the Vixens and embrace the challenge of competing in Australia’s elite netball competition.

“I’m so grateful for this incredible opportunity. I know I’m going to be challenged in ways I’ve never been challenged before, and I’m really looking forward to embracing that,” Walmsley said.

“To compete in the best league and immerse myself in an environment with such a strong history of success is so exciting. I can’t wait to learn from and be surrounded by such amazing players and coaching staff. I’m really looking forward to seeing what I can contribute to the Vixens and, ultimately, what we can achieve together!”

Vixens Head Coach Di Honey said Walmsley’s presence, versatility and international experience would be a valuable addition to the squad.

“Amelia is an exciting young talent who has already shown she can perform on the international stage,” Honey said. “She brings presence, athleticism and a strong willingness to learn, and we believe she will be a great fit for our program. We’re looking forward to welcoming her into the Vixens environment and supporting her continued development.”

Walmsley’s signing marks another important step in the Vixens’ preparations for the upcoming season, adding a talented international performer to the club’s attacking line-up.
