Melbourne Vixens have signed Silver Fern Mila Reuelu-Buchanan for 2027, adding a 31-Test capped international midcourter and Commonwealth Games gold medallist to the squad.
The Melbourne Vixens have added international class and depth to their midcourt, signing Silver Fern Mila Reuelu-Buchanan ahead of the upcoming Super Netball season.
Reuelu-Buchanan joins the Vixens after establishing herself as one of New Zealand netball’s most consistent and energetic midcourters, bringing elite domestic experience, international exposure and proven leadership to Melbourne’s squad.
Reuelu-Buchanan has earned 31 Test caps for the Silver Ferns, made her senior international debut against South Africa at the 2022 Quad Series and was part of New Zealand’s gold medal-winning 2026 Commonwealth Games team. She was also a member of New Zealand’s 2017 U21 World Youth Cup-winning side and has been a key figure for the Northern Stars in the ANZ Premiership.
The 28-year-old also captained the Northern Stars in 2026, further underlining the leadership qualities she will bring to Melbourne.
Vixens head coach Di Honey said Reuelu-Buchanan would be an exciting addition to the group.
“Mila is a quality international midcourter who plays with great energy, speed and intent,” Honey said. “She has performed strongly in New Zealand’s domestic competition and on the international stage, and we believe her competitiveness and versatility will be a great fit for us.”
“She brings a different style and perspective into our midcourt, and we’re looking forward to seeing her connect with the group, embrace our environment and contribute to the standards we want to keep driving at the Vixens.”
Reuelu-Buchanan said stepping into the Vixens environment, and into one of the world’s toughest domestic competitions, was a challenge she was ready to embrace.
“Moving away from home and playing in a new country is definitely outside my comfort zone, but that’s also what excites me,” Reuelu-Buchanan said.
“When the opportunity came up, it was a no brainer for me and my family. I know I’m stepping into an environment that will challenge me, help me grow and allow me to learn from some incredible players, coaches and people.
“I want to bring who I am and what I can offer, while being really open to learning, growing and challenging myself.
“I feel incredibly honoured and privileged to have the opportunity to join the Vixens. As a fan, I’ve always admired what the club represents and the hard work and standards that are so evident in its success.”
“I’m a big community person, so I’m really looking forward to getting to know the people we represent, the fans who support the club and the wider team behind the team who make the Vixens what they are."
