The Melbourne Vixens have signed two new training partners announcing Maggie Caris and Gabby Coffey have committed to the club for the 2022 season.

Caris and Coffey will join the likes of Emily Andrew, Sharni Lambden, Ruby Barkmeyer and Jordan Cransberg to round out the squad for next year.

Coffey is a familiar face, having committed to the Vixens in 2021 as a training partner. Playing with Melbourne University Lighting in the Victorian Netball League (VNL), Coffey was a valuable member down back with her attacking mentality and read of the play.

Caris is a dual sport athlete with commitments to the Melbourne Demons in the AFL Women’s and now the Vixens highlighting her athleticism. The accolades have been coming in thick and fast for the up-and-coming defender who was also selected in the 19/U national squad earlier in the year.

A teammate of Coffey’s at VNL level the pair have an innate understanding which will bode well for their continued development with the Vixens.

General Manager – Vixens, Performance and Pathways, Rebekah Webster highlighted her excitement about selecting the duo for the 2022 season.

“Both Gabby and Maggie are great athletes and have bright futures ahead of them which we are excited to help nurture. We have seen glimpses of them throughout our State Team and Victorian Fury programs as well as the VNL and have been impressed with their workrate and defensive efforts,” she said.

“It’s great to see Gabby back for another year with the club. We have loved watching her grow both as a player and person over the past year. We are thrilled to sign Maggie because she is such an exciting young talent that has so much to offer.”

“They will be joining an already strong core of training partners which makes us really excited about what is to come.”
