Vixens secure Tayla Williams for 2027 season
Melbourne Vixens have signed midcourter Tayla Williams for the 2027 Super Netball season, following five seasons and three premierships with the Adelaide Thunderbirds.
The Melbourne Vixens are thrilled to announce the signing of dynamic midcourter Tayla Williams ahead of the 2027 Super Netball season.
Williams joins the Vixens after five seasons with the Adelaide Thunderbirds, where she developed into a versatile and hard-working midcourter capable of covering centre, wing attack and wing defence.
She played a key role in the side’s Suncorp Super Netball premierships in 2023, 2024 and 2026, proving her value across the midcourt, and was the Thunderbirds’ vice-captain for the first time this year.
Williams first joined the Thunderbirds as a training partner in 2020 after representing South Australia at underage level.
She won gold with the state’s 17/U team in 2016 and 2017, before helping the 19/U team claim gold at the 2019 National Championships.
Williams was also selected as a reserve for the Australian FAST5 Netball World Series squad in 2022, before going on to represent Australia and win gold medals in both 2023 and 2024.
She is excited to begin the next chapter of her career in Melbourne and contribute to the Vixens’ high-performance environment.
“I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to join the Vixens,” Williams said.
“To be able to work with and learn from so many experienced athletes at a club with a rich history of success is incredibly exciting.
“I’m looking forward to a new challenge and getting to work for the 2027 season.”
Melbourne Vixens head coach Di Honey said Williams would add drive, competitiveness and flexibility to the Vixens’ midcourt group.
“Tayla is a player we have admired for a long time,” Honey said.
“She brings premiership experience, strong defensive intent and genuine versatility.
“She is comfortable in multiple positions and has shown she can perform in big moments. We are excited to welcome her into the Vixens family.”
Williams is the latest addition to the Vixens’ 2027 roster as the club continues to build an exciting squad for the new Super Netball season.
