Three-time premiership defender Jo Weston has re-signed with the Vixens for a 14th season, extending her decorated Australian Diamonds career.
Melbourne Vixens defensive star Jo Weston will remain in navy, with the three-time premiership player re-signing with the club ahead of the 2027 Super Netball season.
One of the competition's most accomplished defenders, Weston has spent her entire national league career at the Vixens since making her debut in 2014. Wearing Vixens #34, she has become a cornerstone of the club's sustained success, helping deliver premierships in 2014, 2020 and 2025 while establishing herself as one of Australia's key international defenders.
Melbourne Vixens Head Coach Di Honey said retaining a player of Weston's calibre was a significant boost as the club builds towards another premiership campaign.
"Jo is one of the fiercest competitors I've coached. She sets the tone defensively every time she steps on court and has an incredible ability to inspire those around her through her work ethic and professionalism," Honey said.
"She's been such an important part of this club's success over many years. Her experience, leadership and competitive spirit are invaluable, and we're thrilled she'll continue to play a key role in where this group is headed."
Weston once again demonstrated why she is regarded as one of the league's premier defenders during the 2026 Suncorp Super Netball season, finishing with 56 deflections, 55 gains and 17 intercepts while playing a key role in the Vixens' run to the Grand Final.
Her decorated career includes three Melbourne Vixens premierships, the 2025 Sharelle McMahon Medal and three Melbourne Vixens Player of the Finals awards. On the international stage, Weston has enjoyed an outstanding Australian Diamonds career since debuting in 2015, winning Netball World Cup gold in 2023, Commonwealth Games gold in 2022 and a Commonwealth Games bronze medal in 2026, alongside silver medals at the 2019 Netball World Cup and the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
After more than a decade in navy, Weston said the opportunity to continue representing the club she has called home throughout her career was one she was proud to embrace.
“I’m very excited to re-sign with the Melbourne Vixens for my 14th season. I’m a proud Victorian who loves playing for this club and can’t wait for 2027 with our incredible fans and partners”.
