With the season over it’s time to look back on the year that was for our Vixens – the next player on the list is none other than, Kiera Austin (Kip).

Pulling on the Vixens dress for the first time, star recruit Kiera Austin didn’t miss a beat. Returning from an ACL injury, the goal attack showcased her class and accuracy throughout the season with her pairing alongside fellow goalers – Mwai Kumwenda and Rahni Samason developing at a rate of knots.

Renowned for her long bombs and class in attack, it was her defensive work that came up in spades. Kip proved to be a threat through the middle third picking up 12 intercepts and 20 deflections for the season, often at critical stages.

Her read of the play was another key attribute racking up 160 assists while her work at the centre pass was second to none with 286 centre pass receives to her name. Kip’s composed nature out on court was second to none while her vision into the circle allowed her to hit pinpoint passes.

When it comes to key games, one of her stand out performances came against West Coast Fever in Round 10. The goal attack was not only commanding presence under the post slotting 24/29 at 83% including a super shot but was also highly influential out the front amassing 13 goal assists, two gains, one intercept and a team high 28 centre pass receives.
