Kate's milestone year

Kate review MV

With the season over it’s time to look back on the year that was for our Vixens, with co-captain Kate Moloney the next player in focus.

Kate is the heart and soul of our club, her inspirational huddle speeches and infamous chatter on court taking centre stage once again in season 2022. A leader both on and off the court, Kate was once again at her damaging best, flying for intercepts and delivering pinpoint passes into the circle.

Ever the workhorse through the middle, Kate impressed with her two-way running and defensive nous – if there was a loose ball, you could count on her to snatch it right up. She also showcased her versatility, shuffling back to wing defence when called upon and picking up a wealth of defensive ball.

Not only was Kate influential in defence, racking up nine intercepts and 20 deflections, but her presence in attack was equally impressive with 153 assists to her name across 16 games. Her endurance and composure around circle edge enabled her to weave magic between Liz, MJ, Kip and Rahni.

Kate put out a true captain’s performance in Round 4 against West Coast Fever, totalling an impressive 19 goal assists from her 29 feeds. Her efforts in defence didn’t go unnoticed also collecting one gain, two pick-ups and seven second phase receives, highlighting the mountain of work she does across the court.

You can catch Kate in action on international duties tonight when she steps out on court for the Diamonds in the first Constellation Cup test.
