LAST TIME THEY MET

Round 3, 2022

Vixens (64) defeated GIANTS (52) at John Cain Arena

WHAT TO EXPECT

We will be hoping to hit the ground running when we take on GIANTS Netball this Saturday to solidify our spot at the top of the table.

Expect a hotly contested battle inside the circle when Jo Harten and Emily Mannix go head-to-head, with the elevation of Liv Lewis also worth keeping an eye out for. Diamonds teammates, Jo Weston and Sophie Dwyer are likely to match up out the front with Weston hoping to capitalise on her experience to nullify the young goaler.

Simone McKinnis could be tempted to take a few tricks out of assistant coach Di Honey’s book, who tinkered with the midcourt last week to great success with Kate Moloney returning to wing defence. Amy Parmenter will have the job against co-captain Liz Watson while Jamie-Lee Price will be hoping to assert herself through the midcourt for the GIANTS.

The partnership between Mwai Kumwenda and Kiera Austin continues to build throughout the season. The pair can rotate the circle with ease and adapt to momentum shifts on the fly - something they’ll have to replicate against the versatile defensive unit of April Brandley, Tilly McDonell and Lauren Moore.

ONE TO WATCH

Hannah Mundy proved to be a game changer when she burst onto the court last week against the Firebirds, and will be eager to inject that same energy against the GIANTS. The dynamic midcourter has proven that she can get the job done both in wing attack and centre with her punchy drives and strong hands to reel the ball in.
