We’re officially at the halfway point of the 2025 Suncorp Super Netball season. It’s been a challenging campaign so far for the Vixens, who after a grand final appearance in 2024 have claimed three from seven wins this season to sit fifth on the ladder.

We take a deeper dive into the numbers, showing which athletes are finding form, and key areas for improvement.

MIDCOURT
The good: The Vixens midcourt is being led by the strong form of Hannah Mundy and Kate Moloney, who both rank among SSN’s top attackers this season.

Moloney is once again first in the league for pickups (a statistic she’s historically dominated, topping the league in 2024, 2022, 2020, and 2017), and in her 13th professional season the skipper continues to up her Nissan Net Points (NNP) average, which now stands at 65.4 per game. Moloney has accumulated the 10th most NNP in the league this season so far.

Mundy is arguably in career best form, outperforming her already impressive 2024 stats that earned her an Australian Diamonds squad callup. Halfway through the season, she sits third in the league for feeds, fifth for goal assists, and sixth for second phase receives. Mundy currently has the third highest NNP average score for a wing attack this season at 62.6, well up on her career average of 37.4 NNP a game.

Room for improvement: A tighter, full court attacking performance is required to lift the Vixens’ centre pass to goal rate, which is currently the lowest in the league at 65.5%, well below ladder leaders NSW Swifts who sit on 77.8%.

DEFENCE
The good: The Vixens are rewarding hard-earned gains with the highest gain to goal rate in the competition at 74.6%. This average accounts for two 100% gain to goal games achieved in Rounds 2 and 4 – a feat that was never achieved in their 2024 season.

Individually, Kate Eddy has stepped up, showing her defensive proficiency in the goal circle in addition to wing defence. Eddy has taken the most intercepts in the team, and recorded the fifth best game NNP score for a goal defence this season in Round 1 with 84 NNP. Her NPP season average is sitting at 35 a game, up from a 24.1 career average.

Playing across all three defence positions this season, Jo Weston has been the team’s main ball winner, ranking sixth in the league for both deflections and defensive rebounds. Weston’s consistency has earned the third highest average NNP per game for a goal defence this season.

Room for improvement: While gains are being cherished, more ball back is required to secure the wins to stay in finals contention. The Vixens currently have the second fewest gains in the league.

GOALS
The good: The goalers are all showing impact on the stats sheet despite some inconsistent performances as a unit.

Kiera Austin is going to work, ranking sixth in the league for centre pass receives, and fourth in the league for successful super shots (shot at 59%). She provides the most defensive pressure of any attacker in the competition, with nine gains to her name so far this season.

Sophie Garbin continues to push up her career NNP average score of 42.6 with a season average of 51.1.

This time last season, Lily Graham had played six minutes, which has been boosted to 95 minutes in 2025 off the back of her dynamic movement and accuracy. In five appearances she’s shot 14 super shots at 64%, contributing to the Vixens’ team accuracy from the two-point zone, which is the second best in the league at 55.7%.

Room for improvement: More scoreboard pressure is needed for the Vixens to remain competitive this season. The team has scored the fewest points this season, with an average of 52.9 per game, compared to the NSW Swifts who sit on top with 65 per game.

A high turnover count is also contributing to the Vixens’ attacking issues. The team has the second most turnovers in the league, and will no doubt be working hard to return to their trademark slick ball movement and clean connections in the back half of the season.
