Melbourne Vixens 2026 season stats wrap

Defence

Vixens defenders Jo Weston, Emily Mannix, Rudi Ellis, and Kate Eddy, with appearances by 11th-player Maggie Caris and Vixens Academy’s Ruby Pekin-Schlicht, executed a strong unit performance in 2026 demonstrated by the number of errors made by other teams when facing the Melbourne side.

For a third consecutive year, more turnovers (211) were recorded against the Vixens than any other team. The next highest was the Adelaide Thunderbirds with 177. The Vixens capitalised on these turnovers, recording the most goals from unforced turnovers in the league (140 – above the Thunderbirds on 130), and the 2nd-best turnover-to-goal percentage at 68.9%.

The Vixens cherished gains with the 3rd-best gain-to-goal rate in the league at 68.3% (behind the Thunderbirds and Melbourne Mavericks). The team also sat 2nd in the league for defensive rebounds, 3rd for overall gains, and 3rd for deflections with a gain.

Playing her 13th season of professional netball and the most minutes (1023) in the league in 2026, Jo Weston pushed her individual game to new heights. This season, she took more rebounds (27 – 2nd in the league) than in any of her previous SSN seasons, ranked 6th in the league for gains (55 – the 2nd-highest by a predominant goal defence, and her 3rd-highest gains in an SSN season), and ranked 7th in the league for deflections (56 – her 3rd-highest in an SSN season). Weston had a standout game in Round 2 achieving 95.5 net points and 9 gains – both individual game records for the defender. To the delight of many Vixens fans, Weston also contributed in attack, recording an individual season-high 10 feeds in 2026.

Rudi Ellis made an impact on the stat sheet in 2026 while decreasing her penalties. Most notably, the predominant goal keeper equalled her season record for deflections resulting in a gain (11) despite playing significantly fewer minutes (540, compared to 816 in 2025), and she made only 2 unforced errors during her time on court. Ellis’ standout 2026 game came in Round 9 where she recorded 8 gains and a personal career-high of 5 rebounds.

It was an impressive return to the court for Emily Mannix who spent the 2025 season on maternity leave. Playing an impact role across 340 minutes, Mannix recorded 30 gains, her lowest penalties in a season (70), and made only 1 unforced error.

Playing across wing defence (72% of the season, including time on the bench) and goal defence (14%), Kate Eddy again showed her versatility and impact in 2026. Her best performances came in Round 7, where Eddy earned 75.5 net points – her 2nd-highest net point score in an SSN game to date – and the grand final where she outperformed all her teammates to gain 64 net points in just 45 minutes. Eddy has also upped her attacking efforts over the past two seasons, taking her 2nd-most centre pass receives (88) and second phase receives (67) in a season. Her net point average this season was 30.9 per game – up on her career average of 25.5.

Midcourt

Melbourne Vixens midcourters Kate Moloney, Hannah Mundy, and Zara Walters, with a debut performance by training partner Ally O’Connor, showed their depth in 2026 with regular rotations across multiple positions.

As a unit they performed efficiently, recording the 2nd-highest feeds with an attempt in the league.

Captain Kate Moloney had another excellent season playing the 2nd-highest minutes in the league (1022). She continued her dominance with 41 pickups – ranking 1st in the league for this stat for the 5th time in her SSN career; 2nd in the league for second phase receives with 201 – a new personal career-high for the versatile midcourter; and 6th in the league for goal assists with 220 – her 3rd-highest in an SSN season to date. Moloney also ranked 2nd in the league for overall net points (1364.5 – her 2nd best in an SSN season to date), including a standout 128.5 net point performance in Round 2 (her 3rd-best net point individual match score to date) and an average 80.3 net points per game (4th in the league in 2026, and significantly up on Moloney’s net point career average of 67.7 a game). At the end of the season, Moloney was awarded Player of the Finals by the club and the Melbourne Vixens’ runner-up MVP for the 6th time since 2018 in addition to MVP titles in 2020 and 2021.

Hannah Mundy made the most of her court time this season ranking equal 8th in the league for centre pass receives (201) achieved in 584 minutes – a more efficient rate than her career-high of 251 centre pass receives in 755 minutes in 2024. In Round 3 alone, she recorded a personal high of 32 centre pass receives in a match. Mundy also improved her performance in defence, making 10 gains and 6 intercepts (3 in Round 5 alone) across the season – both new personal records for the predominant wing attack.

Zara Walters had a season to remember playing more minutes (691) than ever before and breaking her personal season records for goal assists, feeds, intercepts, and second phase receives in the process. She ended 2036 with 597.5 net points – her career-record – including 89 net points in Round 11 – her 2nd-highest net point score in a game to date. One of the most versatile players in the league, Walters spent 6% of her season at centre, 40% at wing attack, and 20% at wing defence (including time on bench).

Goals

Melbourne Vixens goalers Kiera Austin, Sophie Garbin and Lily Graham, with appearances by temporary replacement player Kim Borger and training partner Mia Lavis, all showed their impact on the stat sheet.

As a unit, had the 2nd-best super shot accuracy in the league for a second year in a row at 55% (behind GIANTS Netball on 57.4%).

Individually, Kiera Austin played the 3rd-most minutes in the league (972) and scored 394 points – her 2nd-highest goal tally in an SSN season to date – at 79% accuracy overall. Her points included 60 super shots (1st in the league) shot at a career-high season accuracy of 61.9%, and 274 goals shot at 84%. Austin ranked 4th in the league for centre pass receives (259), and 9th for goal assists (202). Across the season she made 12 gains, continuing the predominant goal attack’s streak of achieving the most gains by a dedicated attacker (discounting predominant centres) in every season since 2020 (excluding her 2021 season due to an ACL injury in Round 1).

Sophie Garbin’s season was one for the history books, culminating in her first club MVP award (the Sharelle McMahon Medal) since debuting in SSN in 2018. This season she recorded more goal assists than in any of her previous Vixens seasons, and her 2nd-highest feeds in an SSN season ever, despite only playing 6.7% of her season at goal attack (including time spent on the bench), compared to her 2022 season at Collingwood Magpies spent as their starting goal attack. She continued to push up her net points career average (36.8) with an average of 54.1 net points per game this season.

With slightly fewer minutes than last year but more time spent in goal attack, Lily Graham made an impact in goals as well as moving the ball down court. In 2026, she recorded more goal assists, feeds, and centre pass receives than in any of previous seasons and made her first on court appearance in a grand final playing 26 minutes.
