With the season over it’s time to look back on the year that was for our Vixens, with Kate Eddy the next cab off the rank.
Owning the often-underappreciated role of wing defence, Keddy is an unsung hero of the Vixens outfit, working relentlessly to shut down her opponents. Her long arms have an immediate impact out on court, finishing with 30 deflections to her name throughout the home and away season.
She was never out of the contest as shown in her performance against the GIANTS in Round 3, picking up four gains and three intercepts. In an outstanding third term Keddy amassed two gains, two intercepts and a deflection highlighting her ability to quickly turn the tables.
Her star performances didn’t stop there, Round 11 against the Swifts another key moment in her 2022 campaign. Injected into the game at quarter time her influence changed the course of the game, Keddy utilising her deceptive closing speed and read of the play around circle edge to collect three gains and two intercepts.
She’s not only instrumental in defence but also through the midcourt, always available on the transverse line to provide an option for attack. Her drive through the centre and knack for finding space with multiple leads reliably drove the Vixens’ transition from defence to attack.
