For the second year, Kate Moloney will captain and Kiera Austin will vice-captain the Vixens as they aim to defend their championship title in the 2026 Suncorp Super Netball season (SSN).
As Kate enters her 14th playing season, this marks her 10th year as captain of our Vixens while our vice-captain Kiera joined the team in 2022 and stepped-up into the leadership group at the start of 2025.
Their exceptional teamwork, high-performance standards, and unwavering drive in their first year set the benchmark for the entire squad, and the club looks forward to seeing these qualities continue to inspire in the upcoming season.
Drawing on the lessons from last season and their recent time with the Diamonds, they’ll bring their experience, determination, and unwavering leadership to guide the team through what’s shaping up to be another nail-biting season.
Head coach Di Honey believed that the decision to continue with Moloney and Austin was a natural one, saying “Kate and Kiera led with strength, composure and clarity last season. They brought the group together, set the standards and were key to our success last year. We're thrilled to have them lead us again in 2026.”
Kate was thrilled to continue in the role alongside Kiera Austin, saying “It means a lot to be trusted to lead this team again and it is an honour to reach a milestone 10 years doing so. We’ve built something really special and I’m proud to continue working with Kiera and the rest of the playing group as we go after more success.”
While Kiera said, “Last year was huge both personally and for the team. I learnt a lot working alongside Kate last year and I am excited to help lead the Vixens into another big season.”
Following the Jamaica Series, the duo will be in action this weekend at the Ballarat Blitz.
