Reigning Suncorp Super Netball champions the Melbourne Vixens have signed defensive midcourter Ally O’Connor as their fifth training partner for the 2026 season.

O’Connor captained the Vixens Academy side in the Super Netball Reserves competition this year, and will join Maggie Caris, Mia Lavis and Zali Anderson in the extended Vixens squad, alongside fellow midcourter Tara Watson who recently sustained a serious knee injury.

Hailing from Warrnambool, O’Connor has been a vital cog for the Geelong Cougars in the Victorian Netball League since 2018, including being named in the VNL Championship Team of the Year in 2023 and 2024.

The 26-year-old has also starred in the Hampden Football Netball League, winning the Dot Jenkins Medal as League MVP three times in four years from 2021-24.

Netball Victoria General Manager, High Performance and Pathways, Sharelle McMahon said:

“Ally has been a consistent performer in our pathway programs in recent years, including as captain of our Vixens Academy side this year, so we’re excited to welcome her into the Vixens program.

“Coming into our squad we know Ally will bring a great work ethic, versatility across the midcourt and experience in leadership roles – it’s fantastic to see another pathway athlete from regional Victoria earning an opportunity.”

The Vixens will travel to Brisbane to take on the Queensland Firebirds in Round 1 on Sunday 15 March. View the 2026 SSN fixture
