Two rounds in, 12 to go. While there’s plenty to be excited about an undefeated start to the season, no stone is being left unturned to ensure the Vixens stay at the top end of the table.

The next test comes in Adelaide - the Vixens’ first trip away for 2019 - when they take on a new-look Thunderbirds on Saturday who have brought in international additions in Maria Folau (NZ), Shamera Sterling (JAM) and Layla Guscoth (ENG) who will prove to be a challenge.

Vixens’ captain and last week’s Nissan Player of the Match, Kate Moloney said the focus for Round 3 has been on the Vixens’ game plan.

“It’s been a quick turnaround since the Sunday game, but we’ve been able to assess what we didn’t do against the Giants and what we need to improve on in our own game,” said Moloney.

“One of our main downfalls on the weekend was our gained ball transition – converting turnovers into goals – so while we came out with the eight points, this is definitely something in our game we want to improve on.”

While excited about the positive start to the year, Moloney is acutely aware of the dangers that the reformed Adelaide side brings.

“The Thunderbirds have been playing some really good netball and in front of their home crowd, we’ll have to be at the top of our game if we want to bring home the win,” said Moloney.

“Their key difference is a moving circle which not many teams have, so that’s definitely something we’ll keep an eye on and our defenders have been preparing for this week.”

Being the team’s first away game for the season, there is excitement amongst the group. Catch all the action live on Channel Nine at 3pm on Saturday.
