Melbourne Vixens defender Maggie Caris will step into the side for Saturday’s Round 10 clash against Sunshine Coast Lightning, replacing Emily Mannix who will miss the match due to illness.
A valued member of the Vixens program, Caris has continued to grow within the club’s pathway system and will once again have the opportunity to pull on the Vixens dress on the national stage. The 2026 season marks her fifth year as part of the reigning Suncorp Super Netball champions’ extended squad, after previously being elevated to the main squad in 2025 while Mannix was on maternity leave.
The 23-year-old has built an impressive resume through the Victorian pathway, earning national squad selection in her age group every year from 2018 to 2023. She has also been a key figure in defence for Melbourne University Lightning in the Victorian Netball League since 2019, consistently showcasing her strength, composure and work ethic.
Netball Victoria General Manager, High Performance and Pathways, Sharelle McMahon, praised Caris’ continued development within the Vixens environment.
“It’s fantastic to see a Victorian pathway athlete like Maggie continue to develop year on year as part of our Vixens program. Maggie has been performing strongly in the Vixens Academy team over the past three weeks, so it’s pleasing to see her hard work rewarded.”
Melbourne Vixens Head Coach, Di Honey, said:
“Maggie stepped in for Emily in Round 1, and this is another strong opportunity for her to be elevated into the Vixens line-up. It’s great to have a player like Maggie ready to step in when needed.”
