Tayla Honey will miss the 2019 season after tearing her Achilles tendon.

Melbourne Vixens mid-courter, Tayla Honey will miss the 2019 Suncorp Super Netball season after scans confirmed she has torn her Achilles tendon.

Honey, who signed with the Vixens in September, suffered the injury at training on Wednesday night and will undergo surgery today.

Honey has been a Vixens squad member for two years and was named in the Vixens’ team list in Rounds 7-13 last year, replacing an injured Khao Watts.

Head coach Simone McKinnis is disappointed for Tayla and wishes her well in her recovery.

“We are devastated for Tayla, one of our newest recruits for the season who has shown real potential in her pre-season training,” said McKinnis.

“Tayla has been a part of the Vixens family for a couple of years, so this is definitely felt throughout the whole Vixens camp.

“The Vixens’ medical staff has done a great job over the last few days to assist Tayla with this injury and will continue to support her during her rehabilitation.

“We wish her all the best in her recovery, and I know she’ll be doing everything in her power to get back out on court.”
