England Head Coach Tracey Neville has named her squad ahead of the 2015 Netball World Cup in August with Melbourne Vixens defender Geva Mentor to captain the side.
It's been a whirlwind week for the 30 year old defender, who shared the Sharelle McMahon Medal on Thursday night in a tie for Melbourne Vixens Most Valuable Player with teammate Karyn Bailey.
Mentor has been a consistent performer for the Vixens since moving to the club in 2011, playing through the most recent ANZ Championship season with a niggling knee injury. It's expected that the defender will be fit in time to lead England following recent surgery on her injured left knee.
One of the biggest events in international netball, the World Cup will be held in Sydney this year. Mentor departs Australia on a flight to England today to begin training.
England squad in full:
Defence: Eboni Beckford-Chambers, Stacey Francis, Geva Mentor (C), Sonia Mkoloma.
Mid-court: Sara Bayman, Jade Clarke, Tamsin Greenway, Serena Guthrie.
Attack: Pamela Cookey (VC), Rachel Dunn, Joanne Harten, Helen Housby.
