Bianca Chatfield and Madi Robinson will again lead the Melbourne Vixens as captain and vice-captain respectively in 2015, unveiled in their renewing roles at the Vixens season launch last Friday night.

Chatfield will lead the Vixens for the eighth straight year, having taken the role individually for the first time in 2012, sharing the duty with Sharelle McMahon from 2008-11.

Announcing her retirement from international netball after winning a Commonwealth Games gold medal in Glasgow last September, Chatfield said she feels re-energised to lead the Vixens for an unprecedented back-to-back premiership charge.

"I don't think you quite realise how much it consumes you to play a part in both teams, so I'm looking forward to giving myself solely to the Vixens," Chatfield said.

"It was a great honour to vice-captain of the Diamonds and it's a great honour to lead this wonderful group of girls.

"We've got a great mix of youth and experience and it's great to see the young girls already take on some responsibility. I'm looking forward to supporting them, and ensuring that we work together to put out our best on court each and every week."

Robinson will take the deputy role for a third season and enters 2015 off the back of a golden year in 2014.

The 27-year-old says she hopes to be able to continue to grow the team's leadership beyond just herself and Chatfield.

"I think the most important thing about being a leader is not only getting the best out of yourself, but also getting the best out of the girls around you," Robinson said.

"I really enjoy the role, but it's pleasing to see that everyone is bringing something to the table whether they have a leadership position or not."

"Working with the girls up the front, and down in defence, it's about making sure all of our combinations are really strong allow us to put out our best when called upon."

The Vixens commence their 2015 ANZ Championship season against the Mojo Pulse this Sunday at Margaret Court Arena.
