The Melbourne Vixens will unfurl their championship flag in front of a home crowd in the opening match of the Suncorp Super Netball season on Saturday, 1 May.
With the league revealing the entire 2021 season today, the Vixens will host West Coast Fever in a grand final rematch in Round 1 at John Cain Arena – their first match back in the Melbourne sporting precinct after winning last year’s championship in a Queensland hub.
The crowd size of all games will depend on government restrictions at the time.
One for the diaries of all Victorian netball fans is the Queen’s Birthday battle between the Vixens and Collingwood Magpies, which will be played on Monday, 14 June with details on themed rounds such as Indigenous Round expected to be released by the league in the coming weeks.
Melbourne Vixens defender and championship player, Kate Eddy said the team is looking forward to returning to Melbourne for the 2021 season.
“2020 was obviously a great year for us on the court, but and we cannot wait to be running out in front of a home crowd this year and bringing it home to Vixens fans,” said Eddy.
“The aim is to hold up that trophy again. It would be amazing to do that with the Melbourne fans, and our family and friends, because nothing quite beats playing with a home crowd cheering you on.”
Games will be broadcast on Channel Nine or Telstra TV, with all Suncorp Super Netball games available to watch on the Netball Live app.
