Vixens smash membership record

The Melbourne Vixens have celebrated some off-court success, breaking both their membership and Melbourne Arena attendance record (outside of finals) in the same week.

Ticking over the halfway point of the 2019 season, the Vixens surpassed their membership record for the second year in a row, while a sell-out home game on Monday against the Collingwood Magpies saw 8,647 people through the gates – breaking 2017’s Round 1 attendance of 8,074.

Melbourne Vixens’ goaler, Tegan Philip celebrated with the 10-year members on Monday and thanked all members for their support.

“The Vixens’ members are the backbone of our club and have been such a great support since I arrived at the Vixens in 2010,” said Philip.

“To have such a large number of members backing us every week and investing in what we’re doing is really special; you really want to play for them and repay their support.”

The Melbourne Vixens head to Brisbane and Sydney over the next two weeks before the Netball World Cup break for a month.

The Vixens return to Melbourne Arena on Sunday, 28 July when they host the Adelaide Thunderbirds in a double header – a game where Tegan is set to become the highest capped Vixen.
