SIX VIXENS SHINE ON THE INTERNATIONAL STAGE

The series began in Auckland, where the Silver Ferns secured wins in both home games before carrying their momentum into Australia. New Zealand claimed the opening match in Sydney, before the Diamonds finished the series on a high, winning the final Test to retain their world No. 1 ranking.

It was also a milestone series for two Vixens, with Sophie Garbin celebrating her 50th international Test cap in the opening match. Kiera Austin had her own milestone moment earlier in the year, reaching 50 Test caps at the 2026 Commonwealth Games.

With three Vixens representing the Diamonds and three representing the Silver Ferns, the series provided plenty of excitement as teammates became international opponents.

Sophie Garbin enjoyed a memorable series, reaching the significant milestone of 50 international Test caps in the opening match.

Garbin’s accuracy and strong presence in the shooting circle were key features of her international campaign.

NEW ZEALAND SILVER FERNS

MILA REULU-BUCHANAN
Minutes played: 134 minutes
Key stats: 24 centre pass receives

Mila Reulu-Buchanan brought speed, intensity and defensive pressure to the Silver Ferns throughout the series.

Operating in wing defence, Reulu-Buchanan covered the court with confidence, disrupting the Diamonds’ attacking flow while providing an important link through the midcourt. Her movement and leadership were valuable assets as the Silver Ferns secured the series victory. We can’t wait to see Mila bring her experience, energy and leadership to the Vixens.

AMELIA WALMSLEY
Minutes played: 29 minutes
Key stats: 8/11 goals

Amelia Walmsley brought energy to the Silver Ferns’ shooting circle, rotating between goal shooter and goal attack throughout the series.

Making the most of her time on court, Walmsley used her height to her advantage and demonstrated her determination under the post, converting eight goals from 11 attempts. We look forward to seeing Amelia bring her dedication, positivity and shooting talent to the Vixens.

CARYS STYTHE
Minutes played: 5 minutes

Young gun Carys Stythe continues to build her international experience after making her Silver Ferns debut last year. The series provided another valuable opportunity for the developing defender to learn at the highest level, gaining experience alongside some of the best players in the world.

Despite limited court time, Stythe brought plenty of energy and enthusiasm to the group, supporting her teammates and making the most of her opportunity when she took the court. We can’t wait to see Carys bring that same enthusiasm and determination to the Vixens.
