The Melbourne Vixens have been handed their biggest defeat in the history of the ANZ Championship, going down 67-43 in Sydney on Sunday.

In one of netball's great rivalries, it was all one-way traffic in the latest outing as the home team finally hit their straps in posting their first win of the season over a fellow Australian team.

For the Vixens, Alice Teague-Neeld and Emily Mannix debuted for the Victorian side and showed promise under immense pressure from the Swifts older heads.

Fourth in the Australian conference coming into the match against the third-placed Vixens, the Swifts showed few chinks, if any, both teams under pressure and needing the win after bumpy seasons to date.

The Swifts ball movement was slick and accurate, goal attack Susan Pettitt in imperious form as she nailed nine from nine in the first stanza.

With the margin ballooning out to 11 goals the Vixens made changes in a bid to repair the damage. Teague-Neeld, replaced Tegan Philip while Chloe Watson took over at wing defence and Kate Maloney went into centre in an effort to shore up the through-court defence.

The changes made little difference, the Swifts continuing to showcase quality netball and ran away with a 24 goal victory, the Vixens worst loss in recent history.
