Two from two for the Vixens

The Melbourne Vixens have managed their second win for the weekend, defeating the Adelaide Thunderbirds in a tight contest.

While the Vixens were pleased with their 21 goal win last night, with four games within the three day competition and new combinations to refine, the classic'one game at a time' could not ring more true in the Vixens camp.

Travelling with a squad of 12 with 10 named on the team list saw goaler Tegan Philip rested for the match, allowing 19-year-old Sacha McDonald to step up, taking to the court in the third quarter.

A run out in GA for Thwaites proved why she is regarded one of the best goalers in the world, while her connection with Venter is going to be one to watch for Vixens fans this year.

Dunkley impressed again, looking right at home and strengthening the already dominant midcourt with Ingles, Watson and Moloney.

The reach and jump of Vixens defenders Mannix, Dehaney and Weston proved too good for the Thunderbirds.

The Vixens managed a slight edge early on, keeping the Thunderbirds to eight goals in the first half, to the Vixens' 15.

While a tight, physical contest pursued in the second half, the Vixens managed to hold off the Thunderbirds, winning 30-24.
