Signing period: what you need to know

Re-signing period

From Monday 6 September, clubs have the exclusive right to re-sign their existing 10 squad members.

Clubs also have the right to sign any of their existing permanent or temporary replacement players or training partners as one of their 10 contracted final squad players, on a one or two-year contract.

Clubs can sign any player who was not contracted to another team, either as a squad member, replacement player or a training partner in 2021.

Clubs cannot sign training partners during this time.

Clubs can have conversations with squad players, permanent or temporary replacement players or training partners from other teams, however no contracts can be signed with these players until Monday 13 September 2021.

Free agency period

The contract signing period for free agents will commence from 13 September 2021 until 8 October 2021.

On Friday 8 October 2021, clubs must have signed contracts for their 10 squad players for the 2022 season.

Training partners

From 9 October 2021, clubs can commence signing training partners. Training partners can only be signed for the 2022 season.

Player contracts

Players can be signed on a one-year contract for the 2022 season or a two-year contract for the 2022 and 2023 seasons.
