Melbourne Vixens have signed 23-year-old defender Ash Ervin ahead of the 2027 Super Netball season, following her international debut with the Australian Diamonds.

The Melbourne Vixens are pleased to announce the signing of 23-year-old defender Ashleigh Ervin ahead of the 2027 Super Netball season.

Ervin arrives at the Vixens as one of Australian netball’s most exciting young defensive talents, having recently made her international debut for the Australian Diamonds and continued to build her reputation at Suncorp Super Netball level with the Sunshine Coast Lightning.

Standing at 192cm, Ervin brings height, reach and strong rebounding ability to the Vixens defensive end, as well as the ability to hunt the ball and create turnover opportunities.

A Queensland pathway player, Ervin previously spent two years as a training partner with the Queensland Firebirds before securing a contract with the Sunshine Coast Lightning, where she has played for the past four seasons.

Melbourne Vixens Head Coach Di Honey said Ervin’s athletic profile, defensive mindset and desire to keep improving made her an exciting addition to the squad.

“Ashleigh is a really exciting young defender and we’re thrilled to welcome her to the Vixens,” Honey said.

“She brings height and presence at the back, but what stands out is her willingness to contest, her ability to rebound strongly and the way she reads the play. Those are qualities we know will add real depth and competition to our defensive unit.”

Ervin said she was excited to join the Vixens and begin the next chapter of her netball career.

“I’m incredibly excited to be joining the Melbourne Vixens and to have the opportunity to be part of such a proud and successful club,” Ervin said.

“I know there’s a lot of hard work ahead, but I’m ready to embrace the challenge, contribute wherever I can and continue growing my game in a new environment.”

“It’s a big move for me, but one I’m ready for. I’ve loved my time in Queensland and I’m grateful for everything I’ve learnt there, but I feel like this is the right time to take the next step for my netball.”
