Premiership-winning midcourter Zara Walters will depart Melbourne Vixens ahead of the 2027 Super Netball season.

Melbourne Vixens midcourter Zara Walters (Vixens #64) has informed the club that she will depart ahead of the 2027 Super Netball season to pursue another career opportunity.

Walters has played 39 games for the Vixens since making her club and national league debut in 2024, including 17 matches this season.

A product of the Victorian pathways system, Walters joined the Vixens in 2024 after progressing through the Geelong Cougars, Victorian Fury and the Australian 21/U and 19/U squads.

She was named the Vixens’ 2024 Rookie of the Year, received the club’s Excellence in Sport and Life Award in 2026, and departs as a premiership player after playing a key role in the 2025 championship winning campaign.

Melbourne Vixens Head Coach Di Honey thanked Walters for her contribution to the club and wished her well for the next chapter of her career.

“Zara leaves us as a premiership winner and will always be a valued part of the Vixens family,” she said. “She leaves the Vixens with our best wishes as she takes the next step in her career."

Walters said she was grateful for her time at the Vixens and excited for the next chapter of her netball journey.

“I am forever grateful to the Vixens for giving me the opportunity to live out my childhood dream. Thank you to the Vixens fans for your support week in, week out. I am grateful to leave with lifelong friends, not just teammates, and feel privileged to have played alongside them.”
