In the most thrilling five minutes of their season, the Melbourne Vixens have clawed back from five goals behind to draw with West Coast Fever in Perth.
With the game going almost goal for goal for its entirety, both teams came out with three premiership points of a possible eight â two for the draw and one for a quarter won.
Head coach Simone McKinnis that while itâs not the desired result, there is a lot to take from the game.
âIâm glad that we can go home with a couple of points and I think it was a pretty big effort considering we were five down,â said McKinnis.
âI think there were moments in the game that we shouldâve pushed on, but we needed to have that last five minutesâ intensity and fight from start to finish and I just donât think it was there.
âIt wasnât a good performance across the game, but you have to give Fever credit for the way they played. They played good, hard, tough netball for all four quarters and we didnât; thatâs where you donât get the results.â
Was it the toughest game so far? Not necessarily, according to McKinnis, who said they were expecting a fight from Fever.
âThe other games have been hard, but we knew this was going to be tough because Fever have had a rough couple of weeks.
âWe knew they were going to come out fighting tonight and that they were desperate for this game.
âThey were on from the word âgoâ so credit to them for the game they played today.â
While the Vixens maintain top spot on the Suncorp Super Netball ladder, their attention now turns to second placed Swifts who theyâll host next Sunday at Margaret Court Arena. Tickets are almost sold out, still available through Ticketek.
There will be a post-match membersâ signing session so keep an eye out for details. Memberships are available to purchase from $50 here.
