WHAT TO EXPECT

With a spot in the grand final on the line, our clash against West Coast Fever will play host to plenty of fierce contests across the court.

We will need the likes of Liv Lewis and Emily Mannix firing to combat Fever scoring machine Jhaniele Fowler in the air. Expect Jo Weston to dip into her bag of tricks to reduce the influence of the goal attacks with Alice Teague-Neeld, Sasha Glasgow and Emma Cosh all viable options.

The return of Rahni Samason adds another string to our bow in attack with Mwai Kumwenda and Kiera Austin continuing to build an impressive partnership. Samason is not afraid to back herself from range, especially during the super shot period, but will need to stand up against the physicality of Courtney Bruce and Sunday Aryang.

Through the midcourt co-captains Kate Moloney and Liz Watson are set to lead the way, with Hannah Mundy also proving to be a game changer with her burst of speed in attack. They will be in for a tough battle against Fever’s versatile midcourt options including Stacey Francis-Bayman, Jess Anstiss, Teague-Neeld and Cosh.

ONE TO WATCH

It may take a team effort from Moloney and Kate Eddy to shut down the influence of Verity Simmons, who is renowned for her long bombs into the Fever goal circle. Eddy’s long arms, dogged defence and constant body pressure could be the key to quelling Simmons in attack making for an exciting match-up.
