LAST TIME THEY MET
Round 4, 2025
Vixens (67) defeated Mavericks (59) at John Cain Arena

WHAT TO EXPECT
The Vixens are rallying for a top four finish this season, as they look to make it three wins in a row this Sunday. With the Mavericks pushing the Lightning in the final term last weekend, they’ll need to bring that intensity to a sold-out John Cain Arena as they fight to stay in finals contention.

With plenty on the line for both sides, expect relentless attack all over the court. With Hannah Mundy and Kate Moloney’s seamless transition into Kiera Austin and Sophie Garbin under the post, the Vixens will bring speed, timing and attacking connection to score quickly and convert gained ball.

The Vixens' back end has also found some impressive form over the last few weeks, with Jo Weston a stand-out against the GIANTS in Round 8. Rudi Ellis, Kate Eddy and Zara Walters were just as vital in that win, and they'll need to work as a unit to disrupt the connections from the Mavs' midcourters to dominant goal shooter Shimona Jok.

Eyes will also be glued to an exciting match-up in Mundy and Mavs skipper Amy Parmenter, likely to meet on the transverse line. With Mundy playing some of her best netball yet and Parmenter coming off a stellar performance last weekend, this battle could be crucial in deciding the result of the fourth Melbourne derby.

ONE TO WATCH
In Round 4, Sophie Garbin scored at 87.5% (45/52) and carved up the goal circle with well-timed movement to create space. Should she match up against Liv Lewis again this weekend, Garbin will be looking to use her screens and holds in conjunction with Austin's swings to drive her side to their fifth win this season. With Garbin’s ability to dictate in the circle and dominate the goal line, Lewis will need to move her feet and compete in the air to deny the reigning Liz Ellis Diamond crucial space.

THE NUMBER
93.5: The last time they met, Hannah Mundy put on an attacking masterclass banking 93.5 Net Points, 40 feeds and 23 goal assists in Round 4. Ahead of this weekend's clash, Mundy will be looking to have a similar impact - when she hits circle edge with authority and speed and delivers these kinds of numbers, it's rare the Vixens don't get over the line.
