LAST TIME THEY MET

Round 1, 2022

Firebirds (65) defeated by Vixens (70) at Nissan Arena

WHAT TO EXPECT

Having met in Round 1 of the 2022 season and in the Team Girls Cup, these two sides know each other quite well. After dropping our second game of the season last week, we will be hoping to bounce back and put out a strong four quarter performance against the Firebirds.

The battle inside the circle will be one to keep a keen eye on as Diamonds teammates, Jo Weston and Gretel Bueta fight it out once more. Rising to stardom in the first few rounds, Donnell Wallam will be eager to impose herself against Emily Mannix while the hops of Olivia Lewis may play a key role.

Through the midcourt the tussle between the returning Kate Eddy and Lara Dunkley will provide plenty of intrigue. Eddy will be banking on the club’s familiarity with the former Vixen’s game to curb her feeds into Wallam.

Kiera Austin and Mwai Kumwenda will be aiming to up the ante in attack this week despite the physical pressure likely to come from Firebirds defenders Ruby Bakewell-Doran and Eboni Usoro-Brown.

ONE TO WATCH

Expect the leadership and class of Kate Moloney and Liz Watson to be front and centre against Kim Ravaillion and Gabi Simpson respectively, as we endeavour to collect another win and return to the top of the ladder.
