LAST TIME THEY MET

Round 12, 2021

GIANTS (54) defeated Vixens (45) at Nissan Arena

WHAT TO EXPECT

After travelling to Brisbane and Sydney in the opening two rounds, the Vixens’ first home game of the season is finally here. The Vixens are searching for their first win on home soil since Round 9 2021 and are eager to keep their 2022 winning streak alive.

Emily Mannix will be hoping to maintain her hot form, coming off a five-intercept and four-deflection game against the Swifts while defensive partner Jo Weston is likely to have the job against young gun Sophie Dwyer.

The work of Kate Eddy out the front will be crucial, the wing defence’s dogged style and strong hands-over pressure sure to play a role in stopping the ball from landing in Jo Harten’s lap throughout the contest.

The GIANTS will regain several players who missed Round 2 due to COVID protocols including midcourters Jamie-Lee Price and Amy Parmenter. The tussle through the centre court will be one to keep an eye on, with neither Price nor Kate Moloney known for taking a backwards step.

Parmenter will have the task of stopping Liz Watson who starred last round, picking up the MVP thanks to her 24-goal assist and 18-centre pass receive performance.

ONE TO WATCH

In her first game against her former side, expect all eyes to turn to recruit Kiera Austin with the goaler hoping to assert herself inside the circle alongside her shooting counterparts Mwai Kumwenda and Rahni Samason.
