LAST TIME THEY MET
Round 8, 2024
Vixens (74) defeated GIANTS (60) at John Cain Arena
WHAT TO EXPECT
Having started their 2025 campaign with a disappointing loss against the Thunderbirds, the Vixens will be eager to bounce back in front of a home crowd. Expect the GIANTS to show up with a point to prove, as they too search for their first win of the season.
Jodi-Ann Ward will need every bit of her closing speed and elevation against Kiera Austin, and the home side will have done their homework on young defender Erin O’Brien – Austin and Sophie Garbin’s ball speed and changes of direction will be key to keeping the ball out of the air and out of O’Brien’s impressive reach.
Despite the loss last weekend, Vixens debutant Maggie Caris and young shooter Lily Graham rose to the challenge, and their fans will no doubt be in full voice should they get another chance this Sunday.
ONE TO WATCH
A mouth-watering battle looms in the midcourt with GIANTS co-captain Jamie-Lee Price set to square up against the home side’s fan favourites in Hannah Mundy and Kate Moloney.
Each making a case as some of the league’s strongest and fittest midcourters, the contest across the transverse line will play a key role in determining the result.
Price made her mark last week against the Firebirds, banking 15 goal assists and 26 feeds, while her team fell short by five goals.
THE NUMBERS
150: Jo Weston will become the second Vixen in club history to play 150 games in navy. Known for her relentless tagging style and work rate down court, the 31-year-old will have the support of a huge home crowd as she celebrates the milestone.
