Swifts (48) defeated by Vixens (53) at Ken Rosewall Arena

WHAT TO EXPECT

The Sargeant-McKinnis Cup is on the line when we hit the court against NSW Swifts for our third game in eight days.

Coming off two huge wins on the road, we’ll look to keep that momentum going against the Swifts. Mwai Kumwenda and Kiera Austin have been slick inside the circle with MJ only missing one goal in her past two games. They’ll be up against Swifts and Diamonds duo Maddy Turner and Sarah Klau.

All eyes will turn to whether Kate Moloney gets the nod in centre or if the co-captain will find herself in wing defence. Liz Watson has been in fine form through the midcourt while Hannah Mundy has been explosive. The trio will need to be on their game to combat the speed of Paige Hadley, Maddy Proud and Tayla Fraser.

Emily Mannix, Jo Weston and Olivia Lewis have all showcased their versatility, rotating through goal keeper and goal defence with ease. With England Roses goaler, Helen Housby at the helm and youngster Sophie Fawns at her side, expect our defence end to go out hunting to stop the ball from entering the circle.

ONE TO WATCH

Former Swift Kate Eddy has plenty of experience against her old side. Her fresh legs, extra height and dogged style of defence will be a huge advantage when combatting the Swifts’ midcourt. Her transition work is another benefit, regularly relied upon to propel the ball from defence to attack within moments.
