LAST TIME THEY MET

Preliminary Final 2022

Vixens (55) defeated GIANTS (54) at John Cain Arena

WHAT TO EXPECT

The Vixens are hoping to achieve back-to-back wins at John Cain Arena this week, while the GIANTS will be itching to get their first win of the season after they were narrowly defeated by West Coast Fever in Round 2. In our first home game of the season the Vixens will be looking to the Melbourne crowd to come out in force, bringing the hype and energy to cheer their side to victory.

ONE TO WATCH

Emily Mannix was the preliminary final hero the last time we met, claiming a stunning intercept in the dying seconds to drive her side to a thrilling one-goal win. Following Jo Weston’s return from injury last week and Liv Lewis’ exciting form, our defence end will be looking to replicate that pressure to combat GIANTS goalers Jo Harten, Sophie Dwyer and Matisse Letherbarrow who are known for their super shot prowess.

THE NUMBER

59 and 71: the number of penalties the Vixens and GIANTS conceded respectively in their last match-up. The battles between the two teams are always fierce and physical; whoever can keep their game clean will have the advantage.
