The Melbourne Vixens are thrilled to have re-signed exciting young defender, Kadie-Ann Dehaney.
The 23 year old Jamaican, affectionately known as ‘KD’, has notched up 21 games since joining the Vixens in 2017, Suncorp Super Netball’s inaugural season and has been a formidable force with Emily Mannix and Jo Weston in the defensive end, claiming ‘Rookie of the Year’ at last year’s Sharelle McMahon Medal.
Impressing on the SSN stage, Dehaney earned a spot in Jamaica’s Netball World Cup team in July, travelling to Liverpool during the month break of the SSN season.
Vixens head coach, Simone McKinnis OAM is thrilled to have Dehaney continue her elite netball with the Vixens.
“Kadie-Ann has been a great asset to us on and off the court since she joined us three years ago,” said McKinnis.
“She soaks up all the knowledge she has been given by coaching staff and players and is so determined to improve each season, every week.
“Kadie-Ann adds a level of dynamic presence on court, allowing flexibility and options for us to develop the defensive unit in 2020 and I’m looking forward to seeing what we can bring next season.”
Dehaney is honoured to have been re-signed with the Vixens.
“To be able to wear the navy dress for a fourth year is an amazing accomplishment and feeling,” said Dehaney.
“The Vixens is a group that believes in family which is something I’m so grateful for being so far away from my own, so I’m really happy to still be a part of those values.
Dehaney thanked coach, Simone McKinnis.
“Simone is an incredible person and coach who just wants the best for each one of us.
“The love is heavily felt for us and the sport and we are very lucky to have such a passionate and creative leader.”
