The Australian Diamonds have won all three games in the South Africa Series by an average of 20 goals, a successful start to their 2025/2026 international test series.
Beginning their campaign in Bendigo, they hosted the SPAR Proteas in regional Victoria, Wollongong and finished at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on Sunday night.
Vixens players dominated selection for the series with all five players taking the court.
24-year-old Vixen, Hannah Mundy made her Diamonds debut in game three in Adelaide, becoming the 195th Diamond, and etching herself and mum, Shelley O’Donnell into the history books as the first mother-daughter duo to represent Australia.
With the series now sealed, here’s how our Vixens performed:
KIERA AUSTIN
Minutes played: 80 minutes
Key stats: 29/36 goals, 28 feeds and 21 goal assists.
Austin started the Diamonds off strong scoring the two opening goals for the test with an additional 16 feeds in the first match. Throughout the series, Austin’s strong connections with fellow Vixen Sophie Garbin proved to be a challenge for South Africa and a pleasure to watch for Vixens fans.
SOPHIE GARBIN
Minutes played: 105 minutes
Key stats: 86/92 goals, 7 goal assists, 8 feeds and 6 rebounds.
Garbin’s accuracy under the post was pinpoint, scoring 34 from 38 attempts in game one, an impressive 100% accuracy in game two, and finished off game three with 29 goals from 31 attempts playing only in the first half of the match.
KATE MOLONEY
Minutes played: 136 minutes
Key stats: 36 goal assists, 57 feeds.
Named vice-captain the week before the series, Moloney proved her leadership qualities as she dominated in the midcourt, constantly gaining ball into the Diamonds advantage with 39 feeds to an attempt.
JO WESTON
Minutes played: 121 minutes
Key stats: 7 pick ups and 7 gains.
In her 11th year with the Diamonds, there’s no stopping Weston who was named Player of the Match in game two. Splitting her time between wing defence and goal defence across the three games, she was a force in the midcourt and goal circle, using her netball IQ to make space and turn the ball over to the Diamonds’ advantage.
HANNAH MUNDY
Minutes played: 25 minutes
Key stats: 6 goal assists, 7 feeds with 6 of them generating to be a feed with an attempt.
Mundy took to her Diamonds debut like a duck to water, fitting in seamlessly as if she’s donned the green and gold for years. She balanced her clean skills with confidence though the midcourt, helping transition into goals, generating six goal assists.
The Diamonds’ focus now turns to the Constellation Cup against New Zealand, beginning on Friday 17 October at John Cain Arena.
The Diamonds will be working to reclaim the title after losing in the 2024 series, as ultimately preparations continue for the 2026 Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
