Assistant Coach

Kate Upton was appointed assistant coach of the Melbourne Vixens ahead of the 2026 Suncorp Super Netball season, joining newly appointed head coach Di Honey.

A product of the Victorian coaching pathway, Upton has worked across Suncorp Super Netball, the Australian Netball League, the Victorian Netball League and underage national programs. She is currently head coach of Netball Victoria’s Elevate program, head coach of North East Blaze in the VNL, and assistant coach of the Australian 21/U team competing at the World Youth Cup in 2025.

Her previous experience includes assistant coach at Collingwood Magpies in Suncorp Super Netball, assistant coach of Victorian Fury, national pathway coaching and selection roles, and extensive work at both association and club levels within Victoria.

I firmly believe in engaging all staff and athletes with respect, confidence and trust, and embracing the athlete’s individuality to create a safe environment allowing everyone to excel and grow, whilst still achieving the program and team’s objectives.”
