Vixens to remain based in Queensland

<p>The Melbourne Vixens will remain based in Queensland, with the league announcing today that the round 7 Melbourne derby against Collingwood Magpies will be held in Sydney on Saturday.</p> <p>Given the uncertainty around border restrictions, the league and the club have decided the best course of action is to remain in Queensland to allow for the season to play out as closely aligned to the original fixture.</p> <p>The Vixens flew to Brisbane on Wednesday, 26 May – two days earlier than originally planned - for their game against Queensland Firebirds in Brisbane. The Vixens have remained in Queensland, hosting the Adelaide Thunderbirds at USC Stadium last night, and will fly to Sydney on Friday.</p> <p>A concrete decision around a home base was welcomed by the playing group, according to Vixens captain Kate Moloney.</p> <p>“Given the uncertainty of the last couple of weeks, we are just happy to know what the next few rounds look like, and to keep the season going," said Moloney.</p> <p>“We are enjoying being together as a group and can now fully settle into the schedule and routine, knowing we’re up here for another few weeks.</p> <p>“Our hearts break for our family, friends and fans back at home. We are thinking of them and using that motivation in everything we’re doing, from training to games. We cannot wait to see them.”</p> <p>The Vixens will continue to be guided by Suncorp Super Netball and government medical advice, with the health and wellbeing of all remaining a priority.</p>
