The Melbourne Vixens will travel to Brisbane this weekend to take on eight placed Queensland Firebirds for Suncorp Super Netball’s Indigenous round.

In a dress designed by indigenous artist, Ky-ya Nicholson-Ward and aligned to the team’s values, the Vixens are hoping to be inspired after last week’s loss to cross-town rivals, Collingwood Magpies.

Captain Kate Moloney said the focus has been on identifying what needs to be worked on to ensure the Vixens are playing their brand of netball.

“From our performance last week, there are a lot of areas we can work on to take into the game against the Firebirds,” said Moloney.

“It’s been the inconsistency in basic ball handling and errors that we’re making ourselves so there are definitely areas we can improve on this weekend.

“We haven’t started our games very well, so the first quarter is going to be a focus for us this weekend.

“With two rounds until the World Cup break, we’re genuinely just focussing on these games and going into the break with wins.”

This week, the Melbourne Vixens not only broke, but SMASHED their membership record.
