MJ's magical 2022

MJ review

With the Super Netball season over it’s time to look back on the year that was for our Vixens, with the one and only Mwai Kumwenda the next player in focus.

MJ was at the centre of everything once again in season 2022, the talented goal shooter leading the way under the post. With a couple of new teammates around her in Kiera Austin and Rahni Samason, she was a point of consistency inside the ring with her signature leap and sticky hands often shining through.

Her aerial presence was sublime as was her ability to find a sneaky spot along the goal line, making her tough to stop in attack. MJ led the stats throughout the season, posting an impressive 540 goals during the home and away games to sit third in the league, her accuracy also telling a tale converting at 93%. Her rebounding efforts were also impressive, finishing second in the competition with 43 offensive rebounds.

MJ consistently wowed the crowd with her ability to contort her body and rip the ball out of mid-air. When it comes to standout performances it’s hard to go past slotting the winning goal in the dying seconds of the preliminary final against the GIANTS. MJ recorded 36/37 in that match, showcasing her ability to absorb defensive pressure and deliver at a high accuracy.

Although new recruit Liv Lewis rivals her for ultimate hype woman, MJ’s passion and encouragement remains a fan favourite, rallying the troops each time the team stepped out on court.
