It was a successful weekend in Traralgon with the Melbourne Vixens not only securing both wins against Adelaide Thunderbirds in their pre-season hit outs, but also taking the chance to get back out into the community.

Defensive trio Emily Mannix, Olivia Lewis and Kate Eddy attended the Traralgon Roadshow hosted at the Traralgon Netball Association, which provided a great opportunity for aspiring young netballers in the region to meet their idols and learn some tricks of the trade.

After limited netball in regional areas due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the roadshow proved to be an excellent chance for fans to mingle with players and for the Vixens to have some fun and give back to the community.

The roadshow involved a host of different activities including netball clinics, giveaways and a Q&A with the players.

Hailing from Geelong in Victoria’s south west, Emily Mannix highlighted the enjoyment of giving back to local communities.

“Being able to get back together in communities like this, I come from a regional town myself - so to be back out here and see everyone smiling and having a go is super exciting.”

The players were not the only notable names in attendance with Latrobe City Mayor, Kellie O’Callaghan also waving the flag.

O’Callaghan was thrilled to have the likes of Mannix, Lewis and Eddy in attendance, encouraging the region’s young netballers to absorb as much information as possible from the defenders.

The next opportunity to meet some Vixens players, give the sport a try and win Vixens giveaways is at the Hoppers Crossing Roadshow this weekend, Saturday 19 March.
