2025 First Nations dress artwork

The Melbourne Vixens’ 2025 First Nations dress has been designed by Miah Pearce, a proud Wiradjuri woman living on Wurundjeri Country in the eastern suburbs of Naarm.

FROM THE ARTIST

“Designing this artwork has been one of the most significant milestones in my journey as an artist, especially because it’s for a sport that has been such a big part of my life.

The theme for this year’s dress, ‘Stronger Together’, immediately resonated with me – not just as an artist, but as someone who has played in and coached netball teams for years. I know what it feels like to experience the highs and lows of a season, and I wanted to reflect the Vixens’ strength, unity, and growth after their 2024 grand final loss.

At the centre of the artwork is a large meeting place with seven people around it – symbolising the seven players on court, but also the unity of the broader team. Surrounding this are four more meeting places, each representing the incredible support the Vixens receive from coaches, staff, supporters, and their wider community.

In the bottom left corner, I included a lone meeting place. It represents the 2024 season – its victories, its heartbreak – and while it stands alone, it’s still connected to the rest of the story. It shows that the team is learning, growing, and focused on the future.

This design means so much to me – not just because it’s on a national stage, but because it weaves my culture, my community, and my love for netball into one.

Seeing my artwork on the Vixens dress is something I never thought would happen. It’s truly an honour."
