Receiving two awards in as many weeks, it's clear that Karyn Bailey deserves her spot in the Melbourne Vixens next season.
Bailey was rewarded for her performance with the Victorian Fury this season, and named the Australian Netball League Player of the Year at the Netball Australia awards on Saturday 19 November.
Standing at 192 cm, 25 year old Bailey says playing with such talented athletes in a competitive competition and being awarded the ANL Player of the Year is "truly an honour".
"It's a great feeling know that all the hard work, time and effort put into training has all been worth it," Bailey says.
A member of the Fury for three years, she was disappointed with the final result for her team but says the highlight of the season was being part of a team who never gave up.
"The outcome wasn't what we wanted but it's still a huge achievement to come together with a great bunch of girls and make the grand final," she says.
At the Netball Victoria awards on 12 November, Bailey was named the Victorian Fury Most Valuable Player.
Bailey's experience with the Fury has given her the chance to play at the high level of competition required in the ANZ Championship next season.
"Having the opportunity to be in the Vixens 2012 line up is a great milestone and I am only at the start of where I want to be as an athlete. In order to be accountable as a team member, my main focus next season is to improve my fitness and fine tune the skills I've developed so far," Bailey says.
Bailey was a member of the 2012 Victorian Netball League Championship All Stars Team.
Congratulations Karyn and we look forward to seeing you on court next season with the Vixens.
