The Melbourne Vixens will be looking to return to the winners list this weekend when they take on the Adelaide Thunderbirds in the final home game of the regular Suncorp Super Netball season.
After a disappointing loss in Round 12 against GIANTS Netball, in which the Vixens relinquished top position on the ladder, the team will be fired-up ahead of this Sunday’s match.
When the Vixens and Thunderbirds last met in Round 8 of the competition, the Vixens were 21-goal winners, scoring the highest score in Super Netball for the season with 75 goals.
Both Mwai Kumwenda and Tegan Philip, shared the shooting load with 38 and 37 goals each, while Liz Watson starred in the midcourt with 24 goal assists.
However, the score line of 21 goals did not reflect the intensity of the match, with the Thunderbirds putting intense pressure on the Vixens right across the court.
No doubt, the match this weekend will be played with the same intensity.
The two teams may sit on opposite ends of the ladder, but both have a lot to play for.
The Vixens will be looking to hold onto a top two position, securing them a second chance in finals.
However, the Sunshine Coast Lightning are nipping at their heels, with just percentage currently separating second and third.
Whilst the Adelaide Thunderbirds, will be looking to finish the season strong, blooding new, young talent in the process.
The Vixens will host the Thunderbirds on Sunday 21 May at Margaret Court Arena, with the game beginning at 3pm.
