Four Vixens young guns have been selected as part of the upcoming Fast5 and Emerging Talent Camp and will be put through their paces at Netball Australia’s Centre of Excellence next week.

Emily Mannix, 22, Kate Moloney, 23, Alice Teague-Neeld, 20, and Chloe Watson, 22, will travel to Canberra from 16-18 August where they will train under Fast5 Coach Jane Searle, Australian Diamonds Coach Lisa Alexander and National Selectors Michelle Wilkins and Anne Sargeant.

With an eye on the future, beginning with the Fast5 Netball World Series, the program includes technical and tactical sessions, regular match play and Fast5 match play.

“The athletes in attendance have been earmarked by National Selectors as some of our brightest talent,” said Searle, a product of the Victorian coaching system who is currently coaching the Wilson Storage Southern Saints in Championship of the Victorian Netball League (VNL).

“We will be putting them through their paces to provide an understanding of what it takes to represent Australia.”

Adding to the Victorian contingent in the camp, Elissa Macleod who is attending as a Specialist Coach is a former Vixen and Fast5 Captain and is currently coaching Melbourne University in Championship division of the VNL.

The 2016 Fast5 Netball World Series will be held at Hisense Arena, Melbourne from 29-30 October 2016, and next week’s camp at the Centre of Excellence will shape who represents the final Australian outfit.

“This year is the first time the Fast5 Netball World Series will be played on home soil, and we are determined to put a strong team forward,” added Searle.
