Samantha Gooden has been named by the Melbourne Vixens as a replacement player for Round Five of the ANZ Championship season against WBOP Magic at Hisense Arena on Sunday 1 May.
Replacing experienced goaler Karyn Bailey who sustained a left foot injury earlier this month, Gooden will make the step-up from the ANL Fury for the Vixens’ second home game of the season.
A current Victorian Institute of Sport scholarship holder, Gooden has recently been named in Netball Australia’s Centre of Excellence Talls program for the second year in a row.
With the Magic’s lineup shuffled around this year to cater for Casey Kopua’s pregnancy and Leana De Bruin’s injury, the Vixens will be looking to secure their second victory of the season after their Round Four bye.
Gooden will still suit up for the Fury’s opening match of the ANL against the Canberra Darter’s today [Saturday] at the State Netball Hockey Center from 6pm.
