The Melbourne Vixens have recorded their second loss for the 2018 season, going down 58-51 to GIANTS Netball at Quay Centre in Sydney tonight.

A fierce competition from the first whistle, the majority of the game was spent going goal for goal, until the final quarter saw the Giants run away with it.

Kumwenda was flawless shooting 38 from 38, while current league goal assists leader Liz Watson continued her streak, with 29 assists for the game.

The Vixens started shaky, allowing the Giants a slight lead early. However, with a fired-up Emily Mannix taking two intercepts in defence, the Vixens were able to settle and take their only bonus point in the first quarter.

The second quarter saw the Giants come out hard with a few quick early goals. The Vixens fought back although a few errors allowed the Giants to take a five-goal lead, and the second quarter bonus point.

Liz Watson and Kate Moloney swapped bibs for the third quarter, and a halftime address reenergised the Vixens, bringing the margin to just one goal. Midway through the third quarter, Renae Ingles made her return to the court.

A few changes from both teams in the second half saw the score continue to see-saw and within the final minutes, the Vixens were within three goals. With an extra bonus point on the line, both teams put it all on the line until the final seconds.
