Coming off their first loss of the season, the Melbourne Vixens are looking to bounce back this week when they head to the Sunshine Coast to take on reigning premiers, Lightning.
Having jumped from first on the ladder to third, the Vixens have put in a solid effort in training this week to ensure they’re playing their own brand of netball against the Lightning, a team the Vixens defeated in the pre-season #TeamGirls Cup.
Midcourter Liz Watson said that while last week’s loss was upsetting, the Vixens’ mindset has changed over the course of the week and the team is ready to face the new-look Lightning.
“Everyone was understandably a bit flat with the loss but that was turned around early this week when we worked through what we can learn from it,” said Watson.
“We know we’ve got a really good opportunity on the Sunshine Coast to get back to the intensity we brought earlier in the season. Lightning have been playing some good netball, but we are going to get up there and play the way we know we can.”
With match ups expected from Moloney v Langman, Weston v Wood and Philip v Pretorius, this will definitely be an entertaining game!
You can watch the game live on Channel 9 or the Netball Live app from 3pm on Saturday.
